Be part of Bunbury's new Noongar arts space!

At the City of Bunbury, we're proud to be home to Wardandi Wanil Arts Centre—a vibrant, culturally significant space dedicated to First Nations creativity, connection, and community. Located in the CBD, this new centre supports Noongar artists through studio access, exhibitions, retail opportunities, and cultural programming.

We are committed to supporting meaningful career opportunities for Aboriginal people and are now seeking a passionate and reliable Gallery & Studio Assistant to help us bring the Centre to life day-to-day.

About the Role

As our Gallery & Studio Assistant, you'll help ensure the Centre is welcoming, safe, and professionally run—whether you're setting up the gallery for an exhibition, supporting artists in the studio, or greeting visitors in the retail space.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Providing warm, high-quality customer service to visitors and tour groups
  • Assisting with artwork sales, payments, and retail administration
  • Helping set up for events, workshops, and exhibitions
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the studio and gallery spaces
  • Supporting safe handling, cataloguing, and transport of artworks
  • Using security and alarm systems for daily opening and closing
  • Supporting the Coordinator and contributing to a collaborative team environment

About You

This is a 50(d) identified role and open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only. You're friendly, respectful, and take pride in representing your community and culture through the arts. You're also practical and enjoy hands-on work, from studio support to retail assistance and everything in between.

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role (gallery, studio, arts or retail)
  • A warm and welcoming approach to customer service
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to follow processes
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team
  • An understanding of safe art handling practices
  • A valid Driver's Licence and National Police Clearance
