As a coastal hub known for creativity, community, and innovation, we're focused on building memorable experiences that put Bunbury on the map—and that includes delivering world-class events that bring locals and visitors together.

About the Role

As our Major Events Officer, you'll play a key role in making Bunbury one of WA's premier events destinations. Reporting to the Senior Major Events Officer, you'll help plan and execute large-scale public events that celebrate our city, attract tourism, and boost local pride.

You'll take ownership of the day-to-day event logistics and operations—making sure every element is carefully planned, expertly coordinated, and delivered with professionalism.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of major events and signature activations
  • Managing event logistics: bookings, contracts, risk assessments, permits, compliance, and budgets
  • Collaborating with promoters, sponsors, suppliers, and community stakeholders
  • Supporting the development of project planning documents and event evaluations
  • Helping recruit and coordinate event volunteers
  • Assisting with sponsorship and funding opportunities
  • Working outside normal business hours for event delivery when needed

About You

You're an all-rounder with a love for logistics, a passion for live experiences, and the ability to keep cool under pressure. You enjoy the thrill of working in fast-paced environments and take pride in creating events that run like clockwork and leave a lasting impression.

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

  • Experience coordinating or supporting events, ideally in local government or large public settings
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple moving parts
  • Excellent stakeholder communication—whether it's with sponsors, suppliers, or internal teams
  • Confidence in budget monitoring, compliance, and documentation
  • A proactive attitude with a solution-focused mindset
  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends when events are on
